Digital Art: Fractured – Based on a Mandelbrot Fractal

This piece is from a recent foray into the realm of digital expression using fractals and Photoshop and several neurons.
The starting point was a rendering from Mandelbulber, an open-source software for generating 3D Mandelbrot fractals. This picture was a result of taking a generated fractal and then adjusting the colors in Lightroom. Photoshop was used to embellish and adjust elements of the fractal and to add in organic looking shapes.
The resulting piece has many layers – click image to view full size. How will your mind create closure, align shapes, form ideas?
