The day after a snowstorm in Vermont, snow still clings to tree branches while ice covers the river in the distance.

Photographing snow scenes is hard, especially while wearing snowshoes! The result of attempting to crouch low for this photo was almost a face full of snow.

For the picture below, the goal was to capture the texture of the snow and make it as sharp as possible. The camera was set to f/3.5 at 1/4000 sec with ISO 100 in bright early afternoon light.

In this photo, it’s almost possible to see animals tracks in the snow.
